Biodiesel production from waste cooking oil: A brief review
Biodiesel is a source of new renewable energies and a substitute fuel with much potential in the future for petroleum-derived diesel. According to BP Statistical Review of World Energy, total global consumption of diesel from petroleum increasing in one decade which is 3.5 million tonnes in 2010 and 3.9 million tonnes in 2019.
This work presents an ChemCAD 6.0 Simulation study for biodiesel production. The simulation illustrates the production of biofuel from pure vegetable oil with an alkaline catalyst.

India: biodiesel production volume 2024, Statista
Production volume of biodiesel in India from 2010 to 2023, with a forecast for 2024 (in million liters) [Graph], USDA Foreign Agricultural Service, June 11, 2024. [Online].
The rapid depletion of conventional fuel reserves and the increase in environmental pollution prompted the search for a sustainable energy solution. Biodiesel is one of the most promising energy substitutes with similar properties as conventional diesel fuel. Surplus availability of palm oil makes it suitable for biodiesel production. Due to the lack of availability of review articles that

Biodiesel production from waste cooking oil: A comprehensive
Like rapeseed, soybean oil, palm oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil etc. A lot of research has been done on biodiesel production from edible vegetable oil [2]. This feedstock has very scalable production capabilities for biodiesel production, which costs very less as compared to conventional fossil fuels.
GST On Bio-Diesel Production in India. The GST on biodiesel production in India is imposed at 12%. What Licenses And Permits Are Required For Bio-Diesel Production? Company Registration: To establish the business of Bio-diesel Production, the applicant first registered its entity as a Partnership, Company, or Limited Liability Partnership.

Prospects of biodiesel production from vegetable oils in India
The production of oil seeds, percentage oil recovery and their respective cost are given in Table 1 [2], [3], which indicates that the use of vegetable oils as sources of diesel would require more efforts to increase the production of oil seeds and to develop new and more productive plant species with high yield of oil.
Biodiesel is an alternative, renewable and sustainable source of energy that has become more attractive recently due to environmental concern and diminishing petroleum reserves.

Optimizing biodiesel production from waste with computational
The excessive reliance on fossil fuels has resulted in an energy crisis, environmental pollution, and health problems, calling for alternative fuels such as biodiesel. Here, we review computational chemistry and machine learning for optimizing biodiesel production from waste. This article presents computational and machine learning techniques, biodiesel characteristics, transesterification
The utilization of vegetable oils depends on the local availability of the oil source, e.g., rapeseed in Europe, palm oil in southeast Asia, jatropha in India, coconut oil in the Philippines, and soybean in Brazil and the USA [44]. Oil yield (in terms of kg/ha and wt%) affects the cost as high yield lowers the production cost.
- What is a feedstock for biodiesel production in India?
- High-potential second-generation feedstock for biodiesel production uses waist cooking oil, acid oil, and animal tallow. Non edible crops in India as a feedstock for biodiesel production are yellow oleander oil (Sea mango (Cerbera odollam), Tung (Vernicia fordii), and Bottle tree (Brachychiton rupestris).
- How to make biodiesel in India?
- There are different methods available for the preparation of the biodiesel. Among them, transesterification is one the easiest and best method to extract the biodiesel. In India, biodiesel is produced primarily from nonedible vegetable oil, acid oils, animal tallow, and palm stearin oil.
- What is biodiesel based on?
- In biodiesel production, the feedstock accounts for the maximum cost of production and the use of inexpensive feedstock can substantially lessen the cost (Gebremariam and Marchetti, 2018). Biodiesel can be derived from edible and non-edible plant oils, waste cooking oils, animal fats, and microbial oil.
- How biodiesel is produced in India in 2023?
- According to the study conducted by Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI) in 2023[21-22], biodiesel production in India is currently under production with non-edible oilseeds, used cooking oil (UCO), animal tallow, acid oil, algal feedstock, etc [21-22]. The majority share is through non-edible sources, followed by UCOs and animal tallows [21-22].
- How to produce biodiesel?
- The production of oil seeds, Transesterification of vegetable oils with short-chain alcohols is used to produce biodiesel. In the biodiesel. Under optimum condition, at molar ratio 1:6 in the presence of 0.5% NaOH and 60°C reaction temperature and 350 rpm approximately 99.1% biodiesel yield was obtained.
- Which oil is used to make biodiesel in India?
- In India, biodiesel is produced primarily from nonedible vegetable oil, acid oils, animal tallow, and palm stearin oil [1-45]. Domestically available used cooking oil (UCO) has been identified as a potential raw material for biodiesel production in the National Policy on Biofuels, 2018 [21, 22, 41].
